Three Types of Pool Fences for Your Home

Did you know that the Federal government doesn’t have any regulations about putting up a fence around pools? They actually leave all the custom pool fencing up to the states to regulate, but this can also be problematic, because not all states have strict requirements either.

But many people erect fences around their home for both aesthetic purposes, and safety. Decorative fences can set your pool apart, and add a significant level of visual appeal to your yard, much like wooden gazebos, or a massive outdoor deck.

Here are some of the main fence types that homeowners put around their pools.

  • Mesh. This is typically a transparent mesh barrier that can be moved around easily, but it doesn’t mean that it can’t be durable. There are certain standards that the American Society for Testing and Materials mandates for these fences to ensure that they are reliable and safe. Some laws enforce these requirements, and you must meet them before you can put one of these fences up.
  • Vertical Bars. These fences are bit more versatile in that you can pick the material you want to use. For a more fancy design, you could always go with a wrought iron fence, or instead opt for wood or vinyl. The key is to find something that will last you through the seasons. Also be sure that each bar is no less than four inches apart.
  • Glass Panels. This type of custom pool fencing will probably be a bit more aesthetically pleasing to the eye because it is transparent, and won’t take away from the natural beauty of your pool. It may also be more practical, because you can watch your kids at the pool without a bar or pole blocking your view.

Safety should be your number one priority when it comes to the pool. Children don’t always think about where they are running, and can find themselves in the pool within moments. So, regardless of the fence that you choose, be sure it is steady and secure. For more, read this link.
