When engaging in home improvements, new flooring is often at the top of the list. Whether homeowners are choosing to install authentic hardwood floors, lush carpet, tile, of vinyl flooring, there are a variety of options from which to choose.
Are you looking for quality carpet for your master bedroom and other rooms in your home, for example? A recent Houzz survey showed that 44% of homeowners prefer to have carpet in their bedrooms. It was also shown that 38% of homeowners had plans to lay carpet in their master bedroom.
It’s interesting to note the results of a few Swedish studies on the benefits of carpeting. These studies suggested that carpets actually reduce, rather than contribute to, allergens. When carpet use was reduced by 70% in Sweden, there was a 30% increase in allergic reactions within the country.
Hardwood is also a popular home flooring choice. The National Association of Realtors found that 54% of prospective home buyers were actually willing to pay more for a house that had hardwood flooring. When new homeowners such as these purchase houses with carpet, chances are that they would have the extra expense of tearing it up to replace the the existing floors with hardwood. When there is hardwood beneath the carpets, then these homeowners may also plan to have it refinished.
While some people may prefer hardwood in their living room, dining room, or even bedroom, others may prefer it in their kitchens. Participants in the Houzz survey indicated that they 34% of their home’s floors were already covered in hardwood. Approximately 90% of the homeowners, however, stated that they had a preference for hardwood or tile floors in their kitchens. New flooring was at the top of the list for 71% of kitchen renovations, and it’s likely they will be choosing hardwood, tile, or laminate flooring.
Do you have pets? Have you considered having laminate flooring in the areas where they enjoy lounging? Laminate flooring, which has a life-expectancy of 15 to 25 years, can work well throughout your house. Pet friendly laminate flooring is great in the kitchen, den, sun room, and other areas of your home, such as entryways. Furthermore, this type of flooring is so easy to keep clean and is cool on the feet during the warmer weather.
If you’ve just purchased a house in need of better quality flooring, there are a variety of flooring options available. Many homeowners will choose to have different types of flooring throughout their house, while others may choose to have their entire homes covered in hardwood. In this way, they can choose to add accent and area rugs or hallway runners in those areas where they would like to have something soft beneath their feet.
