Falls are all too common in many industries in the work place, and falling at the right (or as it should be, the wrong) time can leave even the healthiest of employees with crippling injuries and life long chronic pain conditions. Companies and businesses should take every precaution possible to prevent these falls, such as the widespread implementation of non skid stair tape or the very similar safety track tape designed for ramps as well as for stairs. Preventing falls is not an exact science it’s true, but there are many precautionary measures that can be taken in order to prevent the majority, if not all, of falls that take place in the work place.
When we talk about falls that occur in the workplace, we’re talking about two distinct types of common falls that occur. The first type is called the same level fall, with accounts for more than sixty percent of all workplace fall injuries. Elevated falls are also common enough to warrant their own classification, but do not happen nearly as often. These falls cause more than eleven hundred work place injuries in a single year – around twenty five percent, or one quarter, of all injuries that take place in the work place or a work zone. For workers and employees over the age of fifty five, suffering a slip and fall is the most common form of injury sustained – this can be linked to the fact that which each decade that you age, your propensity to fall and become seriously injured as a result of a fall rises by a considerable margin.
There are many consequences to a slip and fall injury at work. First, it costs workplaces on average around seventy billion dollars every single year in the United States alone. This can be attributed to the fact that, if the workplace is found to be liable, they will often need to pay the medical fees of the fall victim, if there are medical fees to be paid (though falls more frequently than not lead to injury – often severe injury – an injury does not occur in one hundred percent of all falls in workplace spaces). The company or industry also works at a deficit if the injured fall victim is required to take time off of work due to the extent of their injuries.
And fall accident injuries can be more severe than many of us would have previously believed, particularly in older accident victims such as those who are over the age of fifty five and above. In fact, fall injuries make up nearly twenty percent of all the disabling injuries that take place in the typical work place. These disabling injuries can range from relatively minor to severe, even including problems like traumatic brain injuries and chronic pain conditions. When an injury sustained in the workplace is disabling, it is often the case that the employee and injured party will need to take off a considerable time off work before they return – if they are ever able to return. Unfortunately, some slip and fall victims are injured to the point that they are permanently unable to return to the job that they had previously held up until the incident of the slip and fall accident.
Fortunately, there are easy steps that any company can take to prevent slip and fall injuries. For instance, non skid stair tape and other like products (such as anti slip step covers and no slip stair treads) can make a big different. Non skid stair tape can prevent falls before they occur, and the use of non skid stair tape by a company can end up saving them money in the long run. Non skid stair tape also prevents employees from suffering life altering injuries, meaning that non skid stair tape helps to maintain quality of life among workers.
