Swimming pools, or at least outdoor ones, are popular during warm spring and summers in many parts of the United States, and swimming pools might be privately owned, such as in someone’s backyard as a form of landscaping, or they may be public pools, which tend to be larger and have features such as water slides or a kid-friendly, shallower pool. Whether a pool is a small backyard model or a huge public one, the right hardware needs to be in place so that a pool will look its best. Wear and tear will happen sometimes for a pool, and professionals can be employed to fix up a damaged pool to keep it in shape. This often involves the plaster and tiles; basic tiles can be repaired or replaced if need be, but in other cases, pool repair might involve putting in different models. A pool can be remodeled when new tile colors are used for the waterline tile formation, for example, and an aqua glass tile formation, a glass mosaic tile pattern, custom mosaics, and even porcelain glass can be used to make a pool look attractive and unique. The tiles on the walls or the waterline tile area alike can be modified, and a pool can look great once the waterline tile area is updated. Why should a pool owner care about the waterline tile area or the plaster? And how does a pool get built, anyway?
Build That Pool
A good example of pool construction is when a homeowner decides to have a private pool installed in his or her backyard, as a form of landscaping. This cannot be done alone as a DIY project; rather, professional pool crews can be hired to construct the entire thing. First, the location is chosen. If the pool will be under trees, it is protected from the hot sun, but leaves or other items might fall in, and conversely, an open pool will not have leaves in it but a hot sun may evaporate a lot of water in some cases. Either way, once the site is chosen, then the crews will excavate the foundation, according to the pool’s size and shape, and they will pour the concrete. And once that dries, they will install the water filters and pumps, as well as the plaster and tiles on the walls to complete the pool’s body. In addition, features such as lights, a ladder, or even a diving board will be put in.
As a pool is being built, the owner may choose what sort of waterline tile or wall tile patterns or colors will be used, and this can be great fun, since this means that a pool can be customized and made personal based on the color and patterns of tiles. A pool may have a professional and crisp look with certain waterline tile patterns and colors, or a pool might have more dazzle to it, such as mosaic patterns for mermaids, whales, or anything else on the walls.
A pool is a piece of hardware like any other, so maintenance may sometimes be needed. Tiles can wear out or get damaged, or plaster may crack and form points that can cut a person’s skin. Or, the filters or pumps may fail. A pool can be emptied of all its water when there is a need for repair or maintenance, and once all the water is out, the filters or pumps can be fixed, and the tiles and plaster can be attended to, as well. Worn out plaster can be scraped off and replaced with new coats, and damaged or worn tiles can also be scraped off and replaced with new ones for upkeep purposes. Or, a pool’s owner may decide to change the pool’s look, and drain the water and replace all the tiles with new ones for a fresh look. A person might buy waterline tiles or mosaic tiles in bulk to save on expenses, then hire professionals who will replace all these tiles and put down plaster and other materials. This keeps a pool looking its best, and public pools may have safety and sanitation guidelines requiring regular maintenance. No one wants to get cut by damaged plaster in a public pool, after all.
