Stop and Prevent Leaky Shingles and Vents

Repairing your own home can be a daunting task. Most homeowners will tell you to look to a company to do the work for you. In most cases, the answer is yes, but in the case of your roof, there are a couple of things that are easy for you to fix. For roof maintenance, replacing roof shingles and installing vents are some of the things that you can accomplish very easily. Instead of running to the roof repair service, here are some of the things you can do. Typically when a shingle goes bad, it’s just the one shingle that needs to be replaced and a roofing company will try to sell you on the whole roof.

For roof repairs like this, all you have to do is remove the surrounding shingles and replace the one shingle that’s broken. This involves pulling some nails, but that’s it. Something a little bit trickier is installing a roof vent, but this can also be done. All you have to do is cut out the hole for the vent and slide the vent in under the shingles.
